Newfit: Brazil’s regulator found three undeclared medicines

Anvisa banned every Newfit lot after testing identified sibutramine, fluoxetine and furosemide missing from the label. Here is what the evidence shows.

On 17 August 2026, Brazil’s health regulator Anvisa announced seizure and a ban on the manufacture, sale, distribution, export, advertising and use of every lot of Suplemento Alimentar Newfit, under the responsibility of RBB Top New. A test by the University of Campinas (Unicamp) Chemistry Laboratory identified sibutramine, fluoxetine and furosemide—pharmacologically active substances absent from the label. The declared formula listed Chlorella, Spirulina, turmeric extract, psyllium and chromium. [1]

What Anvisa confirmed

This goes beyond an unsupported weight-loss promise: Anvisa reported drug substances that consumers were not told about and called their presence an indication of adulteration. The measure covers all Newfit lots, not just one unit. The notice does not give the amounts detected, so a dose or an individual effect cannot be calculated from it. Sibutramine is a medicine used for obesity treatment and requires medical guidance; it is not a “natural” supplement ingredient. [1][2]

What this does—and does not—show

The order concerns Newfit under the company identified in the notice and applies in Brazil. It does not prove that every similarly named product in another country is the same item. We found no verified current price, phone-sold course or evidence that callers pressured buyers in this case. We will not make that up. [1]

What to do

  • Do not buy or use the Newfit covered by Anvisa’s order. [1]
  • If you have taken it, keep the package and lot details and speak with a doctor or pharmacist, especially if you take other medicines or feel unwell. Do not change prescribed treatment on your own.
  • Check the exact product name, company, lot and regulatory status in Anvisa’s official database. A plant-based label or the word “natural” is not a substitute for that check. [3]

Our verdict

We do not recommend the Newfit identified by Anvisa. Laboratory testing found three active drug substances missing from its label, and the regulator banned every lot and its use. That is a concrete reason to avoid this product; we do not need to invent a cure claim, hidden price or sales call to make the risk clear.
