Otovitalor for hearing and tinnitus: what the advert says and what it proves

Otovitalor is marketed in Germany for hearing and tinnitus. We check its ingredients, the “1*” price, a cited paper and urgent care guidance.

The Otovitalor affiliate card promises to restore hearing sharpness and reduce ringing in the ears. The German sales page is more cautious: it describes a plant-based complex for ear-area comfort and says in small print that it is a food supplement, not a medicine, and is not intended to diagnose, treat or prevent disease. The page does not show that Otovitalor restores hearing or treats tinnitus. [1][2]

What the German page says

  • Directions: one 5 g sachet once a day after a meal. [2]
  • It names ginkgo biloba, gotu kola, juniper berries and Japanese sophora, but gives no ingredient amounts or extract standardisation. [2]
  • The price appears as “1*”; a footnote ties it to ordering a course pack. The full course price and pack size are not clear on the page. [2]
  • The order form asks for a name and phone number and requests consent to data processing. [2]

The cited paper is not a trial of Otovitalor

The sales page cites a paper about sensorineural hearing loss as a complication of acute middle-ear infection in adults. That paper concerns an infection complication; the page does not show that its authors studied Otovitalor, its ingredients or the supplement’s effect on hearing or tinnitus. Citing a medical paper is not a product trial when the paper did not test the product. [3]

What independent health sources say

Sudden hearing loss can develop within minutes or hours and may come with ringing or dizziness. Germany’s public health portal gesund.bund.de advises prompt medical assessment if sudden hearing loss persists, especially with dizziness. Tinnitus has different possible causes, so care depends on the cause rather than a universal herbal blend. [4][5]

Where to seek help in Germany

  • If hearing suddenly gets noticeably worse, contact a doctor or ear, nose and throat specialist as soon as possible; do not wait for a supplement to work.
  • In Germany, when clinics are closed and you need urgent but non-emergency care, call 116117.
  • For a life-threatening emergency call 112. Ask a clinician about persistent tinnitus, pain, dizziness or gradually worsening hearing.

Our verdict

We do not recommend buying Otovitalor as treatment for hearing loss or tinnitus. The affiliate card promises more than the public German page supports, and that page provides no clinical study of the finished product. It also identifies Otovitalor as a supplement not intended to treat disease. If your hearing changes, get the cause assessed by a professional. Numbers 116117 and 112 apply to Germany; they are not local contacts for every country.
