ZUBB weight-loss supplement: FDA found hidden sildenafil

FDA testing found undeclared sildenafil in ZUBB, marketed for weight loss. See what the US warning confirms, what it does not, and what buyers should do.

The FDA says its laboratory analysis confirmed sildenafil in ZUBB Dietary Supplement, although sildenafil was not listed on the label. The agency says ZUBB was promoted and sold for weight loss online and possibly in some retail stores. This is a specific, test-backed warning about a product marketed as a supplement—not a rumor based on reviews. [1]

What FDA testing found in ZUBB

FDA identified ZUBB while examining international mail shipments. A later FDA import-alert listing names “ZUBB Dietary Supplement Product (Dr. JEL Brand)” and records the agency’s finding of undeclared sildenafil. FDA has not published a lot number, the amount detected, a full sales count, or a list of every seller. The notice therefore supports a serious warning about the tested product, but it does not identify every package in circulation. [1][2]

Why an undisclosed drug ingredient matters

Sildenafil is the prescription drug ingredient in Viagra, used to treat erectile dysfunction. FDA warns that sildenafil can interact with nitrates such as nitroglycerin and cause blood pressure to fall to a dangerous level. The FDA-approved prescribing information also contraindicates Viagra with nitrate medicines. When a product’s label omits sildenafil, a buyer cannot reliably know that the ingredient is present or discuss its dose and interactions with a clinician before taking it. [1][3]

What the FDA warning does not establish

The FDA notice does not show that sildenafil helps with weight loss; it only says ZUBB was marketed for that purpose and that FDA found sildenafil in its analysis. FDA also cautions that weight-loss products with hidden ingredients may pose serious risks and are not guaranteed to work. The evidence does not prove that every ZUBB package or every product with a similar name has the same contents. We found no verified evidence for a telephone upsell, a “course” price, or a specific seller’s intent, so we make no such accusation. [1][4]

What buyers in the United States should do

  • If you have ZUBB Dietary Supplement, follow FDA’s advice: do not buy or use it. Keep the packaging so a health professional can identify the exact product. [1]
  • If you have taken it—especially if you use nitroglycerin or another nitrate, or have heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol—contact a healthcare professional or pharmacist promptly and tell them FDA found undeclared sildenafil. Do not stop prescribed medicines on your own. [1][3]
  • If you develop severe or urgent symptoms, call 911. You can report a suspected reaction to FDA MedWatch using the reporting link on the FDA notice. [1]

Our assessment

We do not recommend ZUBB Dietary Supplement. FDA laboratory analysis found a prescription drug ingredient—sildenafil—not disclosed on the label, in a product promoted for weight loss. That is enough to reject this product as a weight-loss supplement, regardless of whether a seller calls it natural. This finding is tied to the ZUBB product FDA tested; it is not proof about every product bearing a similar name or proof of a particular seller’s intent.
